After finding our names in an old wedding ledger, he handed us an envelope that had apparently been waiting for us.

Our wedding had been simple, with no grand celebration or large wedding party. Just five loved ones gathered in the afternoon sunlight: my mother, my sister, Robert’s mother, and the two of us.

Robert always claimed he hadn’t been nervous that day, but the photograph suggested otherwise. He held my hand so tightly that my knuckles looked almost white.

For 45 years, he joked that I had nearly stumbled on the church steps because I was too busy admiring my flowers.

We were young when we married. Robert had always dreamed of exchanging vows in the Italian church where his grandparents had worshipped, so we saved for months to make the journey.

The ceremony was modest and heartfelt. Afterward, we celebrated at a small local restaurant, where the owner surprised us with an extra dessert to mark our special day.

We never imagined that returning to that little church decades later would bring an unexpected discovery—and a letter connected to our shared past.

The wedding photograph on my dresser had faded over the past 45 years, but one detail remained clear: Robert holding my hand tightly as we stood outside…

[1

post-10544","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
