Former Fort Worth police chief Jeffrey Halstead explained that the speed of results depends on the quality and type of DNA recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese are very strong and encouraging developments,\u201d Halstead said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of the seriousness of the case, testing may be prioritized, potentially allowing results to come back faster than normal. In some situations, Halstead noted, answers could arrive within 24 to 48 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even small amounts of DNA\u2014such as touch DNA\u2014can be meaningful if they can be clearly connected to the glove and, by extension, the individual seen on video. Halstead emphasized that all forms of DNA evidence can play a critical role when properly linked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investigators are also expected to concentrate their search around the area where the glove was found, gradually expanding outward.
