Businesses reliant on foreign supplies\u2014like coffee, which cannot be produced domestically in sufficient quantities\u2014have faced increased costs, which have been passed on to shoppers, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Global tensions, including recent conflicts involving Iran, have added to economic instability. After Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz\u2014a key route handling roughly 20% of the world\u2019s oil shipments\u2014oil prices surged, affecting financial markets worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response, the administration is supporting legislation that could provide $1,200 payments to qualifying households. Introduced by Senator Martin Heinrich on March 12, the \u201cTariff Refunds for Working Families Act\u201d aims to offset the impact of tariff-driven price increases.
