One woman sighed. \u201cI wish my Elmer would finally stop biting his nails. It drives me crazy. Whenever I hear him chewing on them, I feel like my own nerves are disappearing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her friend nodded sympathetically. \u201cMy Billy had exactly the same habit. Whenever he was anxious or deep in thought, he would sit there biting his nails for hours. But eventually, I managed to get him to stop.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first woman leaned forward. \u201cHow did you do that? I\u2019ve tried talking to him, complaining about it, and even asking our doctor for advice. Nothing has helped.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her friend gave her a mischievous smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI hid his teeth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a second, the first woman simply stared at her. Then they both burst out laughing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After spending decades with their husbands, they had discovered something important: sometimes the best way to deal with the little annoyances of married life was simply to laugh about them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first woman chuckled. \u201cSometimes I open the refrigerator, take out the mayonnaise, and then stand there wondering whether I was planning to put it away or make myself a sandwich.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second woman laughed. \u201cI know exactly what you mean. I sometimes stop halfway up the stairs and suddenly have no idea whether I was going upstairs or coming back down.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both women turned toward their third friend, expecting her to share one of her own stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, she smiled confidently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, thankfully, I don\u2019t have either of those problems. My memory is still excellent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She proudly tapped the wooden table beside her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSee? I can still remember everything perfectly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only a moment later, she suddenly looked toward the front door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat must be the doorbell,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019d better go answer it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other two women exchanged amused looks, struggling to keep from laughing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They understood that growing older could bring plenty of confusing moments, but they also knew that being able to laugh at themselves made the journey much more enjoyable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maria and Julia had been best friends for years. They had shared countless secrets, celebrated important milestones, and stood beside each other through both joyful and difficult times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both had been married for many years, and their conversations often turned toward the changes that came with growing older and staying married for so long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One afternoon, Julia visited Maria and admitted that something had been bothering her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think my husband finds me attractive anymore,\u201d she said sadly. \u201cAs I\u2019ve gotten older, he hardly looks at me. Sometimes I wonder whether he even sees me the way he did when we were younger.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maria reached over and comforted her friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry you feel that way,\u201d she said. \u201cBut you know, my husband tells me that I become more beautiful with every year that passes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Julia looked surprised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe really says that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll the time,\u201d Maria replied with a proud smile. \u201cHe tells me that I somehow become more beautiful as I get older.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Julia paused for a moment before breaking into a grin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, of course he says that!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maria looked confused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s that supposed to mean?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Julia laughed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYour husband is an antique dealer. Naturally, he knows how to appreciate old things that become more valuable with age!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two friends burst into laughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
