Donald Trump met Friday with top executives from several leading defense companies alongside Pete Hegseth as the joint U.S.–Israeli military campaign against Iran entered its sixth day. Following the meeting, Trump announced that production of advanced weapons is expected to increase significantly.
Posting on the social platform Truth Social, Trump said the discussion focused heavily on expanding manufacturing and speeding up production schedules. According to his statement, defense leaders agreed to dramatically raise the output of what he described as “exquisite class” weaponry in order to reach the highest possible production levels as quickly as possible.
Trump did not clarify exactly what falls under the “exquisite class” category. However, reports from Bloomberg suggest the term likely refers to complex, high-precision missile systems that are difficult and time-consuming to produce. Examples include the Standard Missile-6 and Tomahawk missiles made by RTX Corporation, as well as the Patriot MSE interceptor developed by Lockheed Martin.
Executives from major defense contractors were present at the meeting, including representatives from BAE Systems, Boeing, Honeywell Aerospace, L3Harris Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and RTX Corporation. Trump noted that he plans to meet with the same group again in roughly two months to review progress. He also indicated that expanded manufacturing efforts had already begun prior to the meeting, with several production facilities currently ramping up operations.
Earlier this year, the United States Department of Defense reached agreements with companies like Lockheed Martin and RTX to increase the supply of key weapons systems that are in high demand. These include Patriot air-defense missiles, the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) platform, and other Standard missile systems.
After the meeting, Lockheed Martin confirmed that it would move forward with plans to significantly expand production. In a statement cited by Bloomberg, the company said it had committed to greatly increasing the output of critical munitions and was working urgently to meet the new goals.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt explained that the meeting with defense executives had been arranged before the start of Operation Epic Fury, which began on February 28.
The ongoing military operation is aimed at weakening Iran’s political leadership and damaging key military infrastructure. Leavitt stated that the United States currently has sufficient weapons reserves to carry out the campaign’s objectives.
She added that the administration believes the mission is already progressing as planned, though she declined to provide precise timelines. According to her remarks, the operation is expected to continue for roughly four to six weeks.
Officials say the broader goals of the campaign include targeting Iran’s leadership, disrupting its nuclear and ballistic-missile capabilities, weakening its naval forces, and reducing the influence of regional proxy groups. Leavitt also suggested that the administration is considering the future political direction of Iran.
She reiterated that Trump believes it would be beneficial for both the United States and the global community if Iran were no longer governed by a regime that promotes hostility toward America and pursues nuclear weapons ambitions. According to Leavitt, discussions within the administration are ongoing about what leadership in Iran could look like in the future.
