Donald Trump claimed this week that the U.S. received what he called a “very big” and valuable “present” from Iran, even as tensions between the countries remain high.
Speaking at the White House, Trump hinted the gift is connected to oil and gas near the Strait of Hormuz, but didn’t reveal specifics.
“They’re going to make a deal. Yesterday, they did something amazing—they gave us a present, and it arrived today. A very big present, worth a tremendous amount,” he said, calling it a “sign we’re dealing with the right people.”
Trump also claimed Iran agreed it would “never have a nuclear weapon” and suggested the U.S. holds a strong position in the region.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials have rejected these claims, saying their operations will continue “until complete victory” and dismissing Trump’s statements as “fake news.”
Earlier, Trump announced that planned U.S. military strikes had been temporarily paused after what he described as productive discussions, signaling cautious optimism amid an uncertain situation.
