Spencer Pratt Says He’s Working With Donald Trump on a Plan to Revive Hollywood
Spencer Pratt says he is working with President Donald Trump on efforts to bring more film and television production back to California after his unsuccessful run for Los Angeles mayor.
In an Instagram post on Friday, August 7, the former The Hills star said he and Trump discussed a proposed 25% federal tax credit for film production. Pratt argued that incentives are needed to prevent entertainment jobs from moving overseas and to strengthen California’s production industry.
Pratt shared a photo from his meeting with Trump at the president’s Los Angeles golf club and said he appreciated Trump’s interest in rebuilding Hollywood. According to Pratt, the two also discussed competition from production hubs in countries including Canada, the United Kingdom and Hungary.
The reality TV personality said their conversation covered several other issues as well and praised Trump for continuing to focus on California and the entertainment business. Pratt also joked about sharing a meal with the president, calling the clam chowder they had the best he had ever tasted.
Trump has previously expressed support for Pratt during his campaign for Los Angeles mayor, describing him as a colorful personality and suggesting that Pratt was aligned with his political movement.
Pratt entered the mayoral race earlier this year and spoke publicly about his desire to address issues affecting Los Angeles communities. His wife, Heidi Montag, also supported his campaign.
Pratt ultimately placed third in the June primary, missing the runoff by fewer than 30,000 votes. Despite the defeat, Trump continued to publicly defend Pratt, saying after the election that he believed Pratt should remain involved rather than step away quietly.
