Trump Dismisses Concerns, Says USS Lincoln’s Deployment Wasn’t Long Enough

Trump Dismisses Concerns Over USS Abraham Lincoln Deployment

President Donald Trump has rejected reports that families of sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln are worried about worsening living conditions and mental health issues during the carrier’s extended deployment.

Speaking to reporters Friday, Trump said the carrier would soon leave the Middle East and be replaced by another similar ship. However, when asked whether the ship’s nearly nine months at sea was too long, he gave the opposite response, saying the deployment was “not nearly long enough.”

The Lincoln has been deployed for more than 250 days, carrying around 5,000 sailors and Marines. It has reportedly gone more than 200 days without a port visit, prompting several Democratic lawmakers to demand answers about the crew’s conditions.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also disputed reports about the ship’s situation, saying the conditions had been “completely misrepresented” while praising the sailors for their work under difficult circumstances.

The USS George Washington is expected to replace the Lincoln in the Middle East, although the exact timing of the transition remains unclear.
