Rosie O’Donnell answered Trump’s threat not with a legal argument, but with a fiery public response aimed directly at his character.

After Trump threatened to revoke her citizenship, O’Donnell shared a photo of Trump alongside Jeffrey Epstein and accused the president of appearing increasingly “rattled.” She then turned her attention to the contrast between their public personas, describing herself as an outspoken mother who refuses to stay quiet, while portraying Trump as someone she believes relies on dishonesty, intimidation, and fear.

From Ireland, where she has been pursuing citizenship based on her family heritage, O’Donnell said her decision to leave the United States was not simply about running away. Instead, she presented it as a personal refusal to remain silent while watching the country move in a direction she strongly opposes.

The feud also spilled onto television when O’Donnell appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Wearing a bright pink floral suit, she used humor and sarcasm to take another shot at Trump, joking about leaving the country after becoming alarmed by Project 2025. At one point, she looked directly into the camera and delivered a message clearly intended for Trump:

“Hi! I know you’re watching.”

For O’Donnell, the confrontation appears to represent much more than a personal disagreement with Trump.

She has framed the conflict as a larger argument over America’s identity, its political direction, and who gets to define what patriotism means.

What began as another clash between a president and one of his longtime celebrity critics has therefore become a much bigger public battle over citizenship, political expression, and the meaning of standing up to those in power.
