Three Soldiers, One Heartbreaking Letter, and a Joke That Backfired
The Soldier Who Couldn’t Remember His Girlfriend
A soldier named Dave was stationed overseas when he received a breakup letter from his girlfriend, Kim.
She told him the long distance had become too difficult, admitted she had been unfaithful twice, and asked him to send back the photograph she had given him.
Dave was devastated. After months of looking forward to coming home, he suddenly felt like everything he had been waiting for was gone.
But instead of replying angrily, he decided to have a little fun.
He asked his fellow soldiers for photographs of women they knew—girlfriends, sisters, cousins, friends, or anyone whose picture they had available. Soon, Dave had gathered dozens of photos.
He placed Kim’s picture among them and mailed the entire collection back with a short note:
“Dear Kim, I’m sorry, but I can’t remember which one you are. Please take your picture and send the rest back.”
For the first time since receiving her letter, Dave smiled. He figured Kim might have a difficult time figuring out whether her breakup had affected him as much as she expected.
The Grenade That Seemed to Vanish
Three former soldiers were taking a helicopter ride when they decided to test how objects behaved when dropped from the aircraft.
One tossed a banana peel out the door. Another dropped a rock. Neither could see where the objects landed.
Then the third soldier pulled out a grenade and threw it overboard, expecting them to see the explosion below.
Nothing happened.
Later, while walking home, they came across a little girl crying.
“What happened?” they asked.
“I slipped on a banana peel that suddenly appeared on the road,” she said.
A little farther along, they found a boy holding his head.
“A rock fell and hit me,” he explained.
Still confused about the missing grenade, the soldiers continued down the road until they saw an elderly woman laughing uncontrollably.
“What’s so funny?” one asked.
She replied, “I just passed gas—and somehow my house exploded!”
The three soldiers stared at each other in disbelief, finally realizing where the missing grenade had ended up.
