In left-hand-drive countries like the U.S., tanks are often on the right; in right-hand-drive countries like the UK, they’re often on the left. However, manufacturers sometimes keep the same design worldwide, which can create exceptions and add to driver confusion.

While a universal standard might seem convenient, it would limit design flexibility and isn’t considered a significant safety concern.
